Audit Introduction

The Housing Authority of Salt Lake City in keeping with our philosophy of transparency to the public, are releasing two audits on our website (haslcutah.org).  The first audit is the 2012 Financial Audit which for the 5^th consecutive year is unqualified and no findings.  We are proud of this report and it demonstrates the commitment the Authority has to our fiduciary responsibilities in utilizing public funds.

The second report being released is a Management / Performance Audit performed by a professional and independent firm.  The Management / Performance Audit was commissioned to help the Authority raise the bar from their current high-performer HUD designation, provide direction and correct management deficiencies observed over the last few years.

While the report identifies problem areas and recommendations, it also identifies areas of excellence performed by the Authority.  The study will direct Executive Management and the Board of Commissioners in remedying areas of concern and provide guidance in establishing goals and objectives necessary to move the Authority in a more positive direction.  We are doing well and proud of all the Housing Authority accomplishments and remain committed to providing a high level of service to the public.  We will move forward, work aggressively and utilize this study as a tool for improvement.

The Executive Management and the Board of Commissioners may elect to implement the recommendations as indicated in the report or slightly tailor the recommendations to fit budget schedules and priority for completion.  An update on implementing or completing the recommendations will be given each Board Meeting by Housing Authority staff.
