HUD Delays Deadline for Implementation of New Inspection Standards

Inspections for the Housing Choice Voucher program, also known as Section 8, must use the new NSPIRE inspection standards no later than February 1, 2027 (previously October 1, 2025). Please note the NSPIRE standards related to smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are already in effect as required by HUD.

The Housing Authority of Salt Lake City
Since 1970, the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC) has provided affordable housing to low-income families in Salt Lake County.

HASLC assists more than 3,000 households through our Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Public Housing, and Multi-family programs. In total, over 10,000 individuals are assisted through our programs or live in units owned by HASLC.

Through Housing Assistance Management Enterprise (H.A.M.E), an instrumentality of HASLC, we also develop affordable housing projects. H.A.M.E has built 1076 units to date with several more developments currently in progress.
